Biography

Marilyn Charpentier was born in France and immigrated to Canada and made Ottawa her home. She always loved drawing and turned to painting. Marilyn is mostly a self-taught artist who took courses to improve her talent.

She was influenced by the impressionists such as Monet because of the way he used colour. Marilyn was also interested in the Group of Seven and their landscapes of the Canadian wilderness. She also studied Turner because of the way he captured the light in his paintings. She was inspired by Emily Carr due to her intriguing life and how she was before her time.

Marilyn’s paintings are realistic and expressive and captures the light and details of her subject. She captures the mood of landscapes using colour.
